The highly anticipated phone from the Chinese manufacturer Oppo, which has gathered quite huge amount traction through aggressive promotions, was launched on Monday, 26th March 2018 at a live event in Mumbai at 12 PM sharp. It follows the recent trending features and design elements strikingly alike Apple’s newly launched flagship device iPhone X. But the enticing caveat being that it has been priced much lower than the Apple contemporary which it heavily draws inspiration from, at a pocket-friendly INR 21,990.

This is a selfie highlighting smartphone with a 25 Megapixel front camera that supports advanced features like AI Beauty 2.0 app and real-time HDR that form the top features of the phone. Besides the mammoth camera offerings, the phone will also come withAndroid 8.1 Oreo, the App-in-App multi-tasking feature and a 6.23-inch Full-Screen version 2.0 display with a 19:9 aspect ratio.

This newly launched smartphone from Oppo will compete with the models from other Chinese contemporaries like Vivo V9, Honor 8 Pro and Moto X4 for grabbing the attention of Indian smartphone users.

Highlighting features, price and specifications of Oppo F7:

The Oppo F7 with promising features has been priced at the moderate range of INR 21,990. The phone will be available for purchase both online and offline from April 2nd onwards. Initially the model will come in two colours – Solar Red and Moonlight Silver variants, equipped with a choice between 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage.

Two special edition variants have also been launched that come with a whopping memory of 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. The special variants are available in colour choices of – Oppo F7 Diamond Black and Oppo F7 Sunrise Red; they have been priced at INR 26,990. These versions are only available at select Oppo stores for now.

To drive sales, Oppo apart from marketing aggressively through social media and roping in popular actors and cricketers, additionally has decided to host a flash sale for 24 hours. The sale will offer 10,000 units up for sale at Flipkart as well as in 777 offline stores, around the country. The promotional offer also entails an additional 120GB 4G data from Jio and up to INR 1,200 cashback within 12 months for Jio users with the purchase of the phone. Another promising offer is the facility to get a one-time free of cost screen replacement service (in case needed) within one year of purchase, from the company's authorised service centres.

Oppo F7 runs on the Color OS 5.0, based on Android 8.1 Oreo and supports dual-SIM technology with Nano SIM cards. The phone is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek Helio P60 octa-core SoC, which can come in either 4 GB or 6 GB RAM variant. Its primary camera is a standard 16-megapixel f/1.8 aperture with AI scene recognition features. The phone also comes with 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and GPS/ A-GPS connectivity. Other sensors on board include the usual mix of accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor, and is touted to support facial unlock as well. It has a 3400mAh battery that promises to deliver up to 33.5 hours of music playback. Now let’s see how this phone fares in the Indian market...
