With Small and Medium Enterprises are being the backbone of the Indian economy, this is definitely an interesting time for these enterprises. There is no denying the fact that in India the SME sector has been not only a key driver for industrial growth, but also a major source of employment generation. With a major shift from developing simple goods to more innovative and technologically advanced goods, globalization has opened their doors to international markets. Earlier small businesses were limited by resource constraints, but a box full of opportunities’ is being opened for them by various initiatives.

With the headlines being made by SME MaXX for initiating first- of- its kind program that supports Indian SMEs to sell directly to US customers, its implementation will not only boost SME exports, but also contribute to India's GDP and employment generation. SME MaXX will partner with state governments and trade associations to offer the program to SMEs across India. Millions of Indian SMEs will now have an easy and cost effective way to sell their products to customers in the USA, thanks to a new program called "Make in India-Sell in America" (MISA) launched by SME MaXX. The workshop will give the attendees a comprehensive overview of how to succeed with the Global Selling Process with a special focus on the marketing aspects. The workshop will cover aspects like a brief overview of the steps involved to be a part of Amazon Global Seller Program, successful strategies used by USA companies to sell during the holiday season, training on selection, packaging, description and display your products for the USA market, parallel marketing strategies for getting more customers, kick-starting your Amazon.com sales and many more.

The idea behind the concept is to equip the SMEs will effective marketing ideas and strategies to appeal the US customer. By selling directly, Indian SMEs can gain higher margins and reduce their dependence on third parties to showcase their products. While selling directly to the US customers is a lucrative opportunity, Amazon.com shares that last year only around 5000 Indian sellers’ utilized it. The number has grown since then, however, it is not even a fraction of the true potential. "This is a golden opportunity for Indian SMEs! Never before was selling to the US customer, so easy and affordable", said Dr. Kiran Reddy, CEO of SME MaXX. She adds, “We launched MISA as majority of Indian SMEs are not aware or don't have the expertise to gain from this opportunity."

Sectors like electronic accessories, clothing and apparel, handicrafts, luxury items, home décor, gems and jewelry, etc. are products that witness a very high demand from consumers and the Indian SMEs can surely take advantage of the coming festive season and book additional sales. To grow and remain healthy and successful, SMEs will have to go global and take advantage of the opportunities available on the worldwide stage. There are millions’ of buyers in the global marketplace and like they say, trading globally is the best way to keep your business and your ideas fresh and up to date.
